Is Specter Beatable?

April 28th, 2010 by moose

Arlen Spector the defector (one of the con-gressmen
in my state) is in for a helluva election run.

His latest accomplishment was to say he “might have
helped the country more if I’d stayed a republican.”

Which translates roughly to… I’m gonna be toast
in the election.

Reminds me of the old song where the gambler says you
gotta know when to walk away and when to run.

So, what’s this got to do with you?

Lots.

And since you’re not a member of congress, you’ve got a
real life with all it’s good and bad hands being dealt to you.

You gotta know when to hold ‘em, when to fold ‘em.

(there’s that song again)

Sometimes you take a hit and sometimes you win.

Say what you will about losing building character and
what-not… but wins feel much better.

If anything, losing does make you want to get after it again,
to win, and be unbeatable.

Like the man, Matt Furey writes about in his book.
The Unbeatable Man.

Who’s the unbeatable man? Better get his book and find
out for yourself.

Does It Count If You Start With Just 1 Rep?

April 26th, 2010 by moose

Several years ago, I couldn’t do more than one or two pullups to save my life. Until finally I decided to do ONE Rep, Every Single Day until I could do two… then three, and so on.

Yes, one rep counts and it can get you moving towards your goal.

Matt Furey makes a point of this (and explains why it’s true) in his best-selling book Combat Conditioning.

Kinda like tipping the waiter at a restaraunt for giving you some great dinner recommendations.

Dude, Offshore Banking is NOT Evil

November 17th, 2009 by moose

A Bank is a Bank is a Bank…

Doesn’t matter if it’s a Domestic Bank, an Offshore Bank, or an Offshore Licensed Bank. They’re all basically the same…

And the money in them is the same… well, not entirely. You’re money might be worth more in some European and Asian banks.

There are more than a few around the world where the interest your money would earn in a savings account puts a US bank savings account to shame.

Speaking of shame, recent articles in USA Today try to give the misleading impression that all offshore banking is bad.
Evading taxes and illegal USE of a bank account… yeah, that’s a bad idea. No argument there.

BUT, there’s nothing wrong with putting your (after-tax) money in a bank in another country. It’s safe, it’s legal and odds are you’ll be getting a better interest rate too.

What’s on your list?

September 30th, 2009 by moose

It took two years to get this first letter written.

Why?

I have no idea, and the reasons no longer mattter.

As soon as I finish writing and post this, I’ll cross it off my “got r done” list. There’s only one other thing on, but it’s something that I will get done today… no matter what.

So what’s on your list, and when are you going to just do it?

adios
Andy Moose

p.s. a post by Sabrina Lynn was the helpful kick in the ass I needed to get this done. Check it out here to find out why she likes got-r done lists.
